The Maiden RSMS Family Health Walk
It was all fun and excitement as the Staff and Management of RedSea Maritime Services on Saturday 15th October, took a break from their daily work routine to embark on a family health walk as part of efforts to promote a healthy workforce.
The 3 kilometer walk started from Ayi Mensah and ended at the Peduase Lodge in Aburi amidst songs from the brass band. The event was well attended with most staff bringing along family and friends.
Ray Snowden, the Chief Executive Officer of the company stated that there was the need to ensure employees embrace the importance of healthy living reiterating that RedSea was committed to ensuring that workers remain healthy since a healthy mind was pivotal to productivity. He relayed plans for the company to organize similar events quarterly.
The Medical Director for Health Essentials, Dr. Kojo Essel also communicated that lack of exercise, bad eating habits coupled with alcohol abuse and smoking is a precursor to increasing the risk of contracting cardiovascular diseases which according to him is the major cause of death in Ghana.
Dede Ofei, the Human Resource and Business Partner on her part, expressed satisfaction at the outcome of the event hinting that such was necessary for fostering better relations among workers and a way for staff to get closer to Management.
The event was highlighted with aerobic sessions, quizzes and a family picnic at the Aburi Botanical Gardens.
